Maria del Rosario Leon B.A., MSc (c), received a Diploma in Health Promotion (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University. She is Head of the Community Engagement Resource Unit of the Peru CTU since 2016. Miss León has 15 years of experience in community education.
She served as community educator for the PERU CTU from 2005 to 2013, involved in the design and implementation of educational materials and communication campaigns for multiple clinical trials, including the Andean Communication branding for the iPrEx study. As Head of the Community Engagement Resource Unit, she promotes community engagement in CTU science and research implementation. Currently she is engaged with trials evaluating injectable PrEP and monoclonal antibody infusions for HIV prevention, as well as HIV and MDR TB treatment trials.
She is member of HPTN 083 Protocol Team (2017), HVTN 706/HPX3002 Protocol Team (2019), member of ACTG PDISC of the SMCCC and its ORRWG (2018), and is a member of HANC Community Partners as MTN representative (2019) and serve on the CoVPN Community Working Group (2020).
