Pedro Gonzales is the Clinical Research Site Leader of the Asociacion Civil Impacta Salud y Educacion, San Miguel CRS. Currently, he is a member of the Substance Use Scientific Committee for the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) and a member of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network Efficacy (HVTN) Working Group, and the HVTN Concept Working Group.
He has a broad background in HIV prevention in the fields of vaccines, rectal microbicides, pre-exposure prophylaxis (oral and long acting injections), prevention intervention packages, treatment as prevention and other prevention strategies. He has been conducting research and providing clinical care to people with HIV including treatment, prophylaxis strategies, treatment of TB and other comorbidities, and treatment for Substance Use Disorders. He has planned, designed, implemented and managed multi-disciplinary epidemiological studies, clinical trials, observational studies and operational research for HIV prevention and treatment. He has been a member of evaluation Committee of the DAIDS Networks, member of the Network Evaluation Committee of the HVTN and member of the Performance Evaluation Committee of the ACTG.
